About the Guide

This guide is intended to help food business operators meet the legal obligations of food hygiene and other legislation that affects their businesses as well as to provide advice on good practice.

"The Association"

The Mint Guide was created in co-operation with the British Sandwich & Food to Go Association (the BSA) and The Pizza, Pasta & Italian Food Association (PAPA). Throughout the guide, you will see references to "the Association" and "members" and these should be interpreted as meaning the BSA, PAPA and their members.

Members of the Association receive access to the guide as part of their membership package and occasionally, guidance may be specifically apply to them.

Assured Advice

Some of the guidance contained in this publication is ‘Assured Advice’ which means that it has been agreed with enforcement authorities and, provided Association members follow the guidance, local enforcement authorities can only challenge them on it by raising it through the Primary Authority – see Chapter 1a.
